Entry Policies for Tourists from Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam | Visa-Free
& Visa Requirements

Thai Citizens
(Visa-Free)
โข Since March 1st, 2024, Thailand and China
have officially implemented a visa exemption agreement. Thai citizens holding
ordinary passports can enter China visa-free for short-term visits such as
tourism, visiting relatives, and business.
โข Duration of Stay: They can stay for a
maximum of 30 days for a single entry, and the cumulative stay within 180 days
shall not exceed 90 days.
โข Note: If you plan to stay for more than
30 days, you need to apply for the appropriate type of visa in advance.

Malaysian
Citizens (Visa-Free)
โข From December 1st, 2023, to the end of
2026, China has implemented a unilateral visa exemption policy for Malaysian
citizens. Those holding ordinary passports can enter China visa-free for
short-term visits such as tourism, visiting relatives, and business.
โข Duration of Stay: They can stay for a
maximum of 15 days for a single entry.
โข Note: If you plan to stay for more than
15 days, you need to apply for the appropriate type of visa in advance.
โ Vietnamese
Citizens (Visa Required)
โข Currently, China has not implemented a
visa exemption policy for Vietnamese citizens. Those going to Sichuan for
tourism need to apply for a Chinese tourist visa (L visa) in advance.
โข Visa Application Methods:
โ
Apply to the
Chinese Embassy or Consulate in Vietnam (Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang).
โ
Provide
materials such as a valid passport (valid for at least 6 months), round-trip
air tickets, and hotel reservation forms.
โ
The general
visa processing time is 5-7 working days. It is recommended to apply 1 month in
advance.

Passport Requirements
๐ก All
tourists (from Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam) must enter China with a valid
passport. Please ensure:
โข The passport is valid for at least 6
months (calculated from the entry date).
โข The passport has at least 2 blank pages
for the Chinese border control to stamp.
โข If the passport is about to expire,
please apply for a new passport as soon as possible, otherwise you may be
refused entry.

Documents Required Upon Entry

tickets (It is recommended to print them in advance, as some border controls
may require them)

stay for a long time (beyond the visa-free period), you need to apply for the
appropriate visa in advance

Customs Regulations Upon Entry

Prohibited Items:
โข Meat, dairy products, and plant seeds are
not allowed to enter the country.
โข Drones: Flying is prohibited in some
scenic areas. Please check in advance.
โข Cash Declaration: If you carry more than
CNY 20,000 or the equivalent of USD 5,000 in cash, you need to declare it to
the customs.

Visa Extension & Special Cases
๐ Visa
Extension: If you plan to extend your stay, you can apply for an extension at
the Exit and Entry Administration Bureau within China.

Problems Encountered During Entry: If you are refused entry due to document
problems, please contact the Chinese Embassy in your local area or your
country's embassy in China immediately.
