🛂 1. Before You Travel

📌 Passport & Visa

• Passport Validity: Please ensure that your passport is valid for at least 6 months and has enough blank pages.

• Visa Requirements: Tourists from Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam need to enter China with a valid Chinese tourist visa (L visa). It is recommended to apply for the visa 1 month in advance.

📌 Travel Insurance

• We recommend that tourists purchase an international travel insurance from their home country before departure to obtain more comprehensive medical and accident coverage.

• The travel insurance coverage within China is relatively low. It is recommended to choose an insurance plan that covers medical treatment, baggage loss, travel cancellation, etc.

🌦️ 2. Weather & What to Wear

Sichuan has distinct four seasons, and different seasons are suitable for different types of clothing:

 🔹 Additional Reminder:

• The temperature difference in high-altitude areas such as Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong is relatively large. It is recommended to carry a thick coat with you.

• During the rainy season (June - September), it is recommended to carry a raincoat or a folding umbrella.

💰 3. Currency & Payment

The Chinese yuan (CNY) is the official currency of China. In Sichuan, the main payment methods are as follows:

Mobile Payment: Alipay and WeChat Pay are applicable to most merchants (some foreign bank cards can be bound).

Cash Payment: Cash is still required for small transactions (such as roadside stalls, taxis).

Credit Card: Visa/MasterCard can be used in some high-end hotels and large shopping malls, but it is not as popular as mobile payment.

Currency Exchange Method: It is recommended to exchange Chinese yuan at the airport, bank or official exchange points. It is not recommended to exchange currency on the street.

🔹 Additional Reminder:

• Thai baht, Malaysian ringgit and Vietnamese dong cannot be directly consumed in Sichuan. Please exchange for Chinese yuan in advance.

• If you carry more than CNY 20,000 or the equivalent of USD 5,000 in cash, you need to declare it to the customs.

📶 4. Communication & Internet

In Sichuan, you can choose the following ways to stay connected to the Internet:

SIM Card/Phone Card: It is recommended to purchase a travel SIM card from China Unicom or China Mobile, which supports data and calls.

eSIM: Some mobile phones can use an international eSIM card without the need to replace the physical card.

Wi-Fi: Hotels, cafes and shopping malls provide free Wi-Fi, but some require mobile phone verification (you can register with your passport).

VPN (Bypassing Internet Restrictions): Some foreign social software in China (such as Facebook, LINE) is restricted. It is recommended to download a VPN application in advance.

🛂 5. Immigration & Customs

📌 Entry Requirements

When entering the country, you need to submit your passport, visa, disembarkation card and undergo customs inspection.

Filling out the Entry Form: You can fill it out in Chinese or English, and you need to accurately fill in the hotel address in Sichuan.

📌 Prohibited Items

Meat, dairy products and plant seeds are not allowed to enter the country.

More than 200 cigarettes and 1 liter of alcoholic beverages need to be declared.

Drones: Flying is prohibited in some scenic areas. Please check in advance.

🚗 6. Transportation

In Sichuan, tourists can choose the following travel methods:

High-speed Rail/EMU: You can take the high-speed rail from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou, Mount Emei and other places, which is fast and comfortable.

Subway/Bus: The subway lines in Chengdu are well-developed and suitable for traveling within the urban area.

Taxi/Online Car-hailing: Didi is the main online car-hailing APP, and you can use Alipay or WeChat Pay.

Car Rental: Foreign driver's licenses cannot be used directly. It is recommended to choose a chartered car service.

⚕️ 7. Safety & Health

📌 Travel Safety

Sichuan is generally safe, but you need to pay attention to situations such as going out alone at night and being accosted by strangers.

Keep your valuables safe and avoid carrying a large amount of cash.

📌 Medical Services

• It is recommended to go to a **Class III Grade A hospital (such as West China Hospital of Sichuan University)** for medical treatment, which provides better services.

• Altitude sickness may occur in high-altitude areas (such as Jiuzhaigou, Huanglong). Please prepare anti-altitude sickness drugs (such as Rhodiola rosea) in advance.

• Common cold medicine can be purchased at Chinese pharmacies, but a doctor's certificate is required for some prescription drugs.

Download Alipay/WeChat for easy payment and navigation.

Learn basic Chinese phrases in advance, such as "Nǐ hǎo" and "Xièxiè".

Respect local culture, such as taking off your hat when entering a temple and avoiding making loud noises.
